Aftermath Web design

Services

What we do

Six services, one job.

Nearly every one starts the same way: a site that already exists and is already costing you something. What the work gets called depends on which part hurts.

What it costs depends on what is already there, so anyone quoting a number before looking is quoting a number they intend to revise. Each page below says what actually moves the effort, which is the question a price list is pretending to answer.

    Website redesign

Your site loads, and then nothing happens. People arrive, read a screen and a half, and leave without doing the one thing you built the site for.

    • A pass over your content and page structure before any design starts
    • Design of the handful of page layouts the site actually needs
    • Built by hand, with no page builder to lock you out of it later
    • Every old web address either kept or forwarded, checked after launch

    Website design

For a business that has never had a real site, or has been running on a page somebody set up years ago and never came back to.

    • The page list and structure agreed before any design starts
    • Copy written from your material, or drafted with you if there is none
    • Design and build of every page layout
    • Contact forms with real spam handling, not a puzzle and a prayer

    Ecommerce

Stores that were fine at thirty products and fell over at three hundred, or that lose people between the product page and the payment screen.

    • Catalogue structure: categories, options and filtering that stay fast
    • Product and category page work
    • A field by field review of checkout, against where people actually drop out
    • Payment and delivery set up and tested with real transactions

    What ecommerce involves

  • 04

    Search

The practical side of search: whether Google can read your site, whether it understands what you do, and whether the site is fast enough to compete.

    • A full check of what Google can and cannot read on the site
    • Broken links, error pages and duplicate pages competing with each other, found and fixed
    • Page structure and internal links, so the site explains what it is about
    • The hidden description that tells search engines what your business is, with nothing invented

    What search involves

  • 05

    Maintenance

Updates, backups, monitoring and small changes, on a site that somebody is actually watching.

    • Updates tested on a private copy before they touch the live site
    • Backups kept off the server, with a restore actually tested
    • Monitoring on both uptime and form delivery, so a silent failure is not silent
    • Security patching and a locked down setup

    What maintenance involves

  • 06

    Hosting migration

Moving a site to hosting in your own name, without downtime, lost email, or a week of broken links.

    • Finding where the domain, the site and the email actually live
    • New hosting set up in your name, with your billing
    • A full copy stood up and checked before anything is pointed anywhere
    • The switch timed so it takes minutes rather than being a gamble

    What hosting migration involves

Start

Start with the measurement.

If you are not sure which of these you need, run the site through the audit. It takes about twenty seconds, costs nothing, and the result usually makes the answer obvious.
